IRC Nick Time (GMT-7) Message
jshanab_wcw 08:12 good morning all
jshanab_wcw 09:12 morning taxilian. Wrong codec was my first assumption. The same stream is playable when restreamed into HTTP live streaming with a commerical program we use. No transcoding to my knowledge. I am comparing the .ts headers now. I did notice that if I play it in VLC and ask for info it says there are two streams Video and Audio. the same segment file in Quicktime says there is only audio. and...
...it plays all the audio in a very short time.
taxilian 09:12 jshanab_wcw: if you use the wrong encoding settings even with the correct codecs it won't play
ios quicktime is crazy particular
jshanab_wcw 09:12 I cannot seem to put my finger on what is wrong. It is like they only recognize 1 of thousands of possible combinations and that info is vauge on purpose. needle in haystack vauge
I am wondering if it may be a PTS/DTS thing. The file that works has both in the headers and they start at 90000. The generated stream with problems has only a PTS and starts at 23,074,694
taxillian. when you say "wrong encoding settings even with correct codec", you are talking about the profile and at the time of compression, corect? because that is done in hardware before I get it!
taxilian 09:12 not just profile
I was transcoding things from other formats using ffmpeg
and just changing various settings around I could break things
without changing the codec
I didn't actually get far enough into the details to understand specifics, unfortunately
jshanab_wcw 09:12 Well, if and/or when i figure this one out, I'll let you know :-)
taxilian 09:12 http://smoothstreaming.code-shop.com/trac/wiki/Mod-Smooth-Streaming-iPhone may give you some hints
those are the settings I was starting out with
or so it seems
jshanab_wcw 09:12 thanks
taxilian 09:12 this was nearly two years ago
you aren't some closet CSS wizard by chance, are you?
I can't for the life of me figure out why the gist code at http://colonelpanic.net/2011/09/backbone-js-attaching-multiple-routers-to-the-same-route/ is double spaced
jshanab_wcw 09:12 I wish. Every time I dug into it I got pulled off
taxilian 09:12 hehe
jshanab_wcw 09:12 But we have had issues with this as divs are by default one after another vertically, spans are the other way I always end up using firebug and finding it is in the inherited block settings
taxilian 09:12 yeah… the problem is I'm using chrome's inspector and can't find any css settings that could be causing it
that's what I expected it to be
that owuld be something I could fix
jshanab_wcw 09:12 Anf Firefox uninstalled my firebug. maybe fiddler?
taxilian 09:12 firefox won't even load the website for me on this computer
no idea why
jshanab_wcw 09:12 I cannot connect directly to camera in quicktime, only VLC on the mac. codec not installed i guess :-(
taxilian 09:12 :-/
jshanab_wcw 09:12 line-height: 150% inherited from body ??
taxilian 09:12 tried disabling that
doesn't help
jshanab_wcw 09:12 There is also a line-height: 1.5 from reset.css
taxilian 09:12 yeah, tried disabling that too
unless chrome's css tweaking stuff isn't working right; i haven't done it in the files themselves
jshanab_wcw 09:12 oh,, yeah forgot that oppurtunity
taxilian 09:12 ahh, well. time for church choir
might be back online this afternoon; good luck to you
jshanab_wcw 10:12 taxiliian. "line-height: 0.6;" looks nice. it is percentage of font height was 19px in typography.css. Only effects code listing in Firefox Could that be it?
"Divs naturally add some white space, use negative margins" according to one blog
taxilian 15:12 jshanab_wcw: I could try some of that; I haven't seen any negative margins, though; I have used divs without the extra spacing lots of times :-/
jshanab_wcw 15:12 I did the line-height: 0.6 in the tweaker window and it worked well
taxilian 15:12 huh
okay
I'll have to play with it
thanks
jshanab_wcw 15:12 I had to play with it, i was going nuts tring to figure out this HLS streaming. I am stumped. The only thing left is to transcode :-(
taxilian 15:12 :-/
jshanab_wcw 15:12 I am throwing in the towel for the night. maybe will try building the Mac media player after dinner tonight. ( I was watching the ole videos last night and found I had forgotten the --recursive on the git submodule update!")
taxilian 15:12 :-/ good luck
jshanab_wcw 15:12 I fear luck is all that is left. LOL
C-ya
jshanab 17:12 Just starting on mac and I installed xcode but the firebreth prep script canot find it (well cmake can't find it" This is a fresh machine and an even fresher to mac developer
linearray 17:12 error message?
pastebin the output
jshanab 17:12 http://pastebin.com/7wQQDsss
linearray 17:12 can you launch xcode?
jshanab 17:12 not from command line. guess it missed the symlink in /usr/bin
linearray 17:12 no I don't have that either
jshanab 17:12 oh, uh, i think I installed the xcode installer, brb LOL
linearray 17:12 very well :)
jshanab 17:12 The package installed an application called install xcode
linearray 17:12 are you running lion?
jshanab 17:12 yes
linearray 17:12 then you should just install it from the app store
jshanab 17:12 I think i am runing lion and I think I did. Strangest set of web page hoops to keep clicking to get tot he download, apple needs to rethink that developer site layout
linearray 17:12 if you installed it from the App store, then there is no web site involved
I guess it's in /Applications/App Store
if the scrollbars are all bouncy and the whole UI is soviet-era grey in grey, then you are running Lion.
Alternatively click on the apple logo in the top left, and on About this Mac
jshanab 17:12 humm. I will have to try that next time. Funny thin it is halfway installed and a popup says close thes applications... there are a whole bunch open. No shut down in warning, gotta shut them down one at a time?
linearray 17:12 yes
it shouldn't be that many
safari, itunes, etc.
jshanab 17:12 yeah, HLS streaming opened them. LOL
itunes is crazy. I can't exit it keps jumping to downloading url and I am no longer on that network. Am I wrong or has apple also gone down the windows path of trying to be to helpful
linearray 17:12 no, itunes is just crap that's all
a trait it shares with Finder
force killing it Cmd-Option-Esc
it=is
jshanab 17:12 kill-all would be my choice, but the process is hard to find
cmd-option-esc Perfect! Turns out evertime I went to a .m3u8 url that didn't work during testing I created an instance of itunes. It never played, it jsut created them all and sat there with a white screen duh
I feel like a noob
awsome. thanks it is prepping
jshanab 18:12 humm. I type "open BasicMediaPlayer.xcodeproj and I have just a bunch of empty windows. some say "No Editor" seems like I missed a step?
red exclamation mark says something about workspace integrity?
ok, got it. had to close and reopen xcode, go figure
