IRC Nick Time (GMT-7) Message

GordonSmith: Firebreath 1.5 http://goo.gl/iUGBa

JIRA issue http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-126 issue resolved by richard "Thanks for the patch!"
taxilian 11:09 hmm. Well, aparently FIREBREATH-129 is not something that we can fix
FireBreathBot 11:09 FIREBREATH-129: Summary: Firebreath objects created using the OBJECT tag cannot be used as method arguments on all browsers
FIREBREATH-129: Assigned To: richard
FIREBREATH-129: Priority: Major, Status: Open, http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-129
taxilian 11:09 I could make some guesses as to why, but the fact of the matter is that it gets wrapped by another NPObject before it is passed in
so there isn't really anything I can do about it
FireBreathBot 12:09 Commit 38e2f68 on master by Richard Bateman: "FIREBREATH-129: Updated FBTestPlugin to support tests for mu..." http://goo.gl/zgw23
FireBreathBot 13:09 JIRA issue http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-129 issue resolved by richard "Unfortunately there is no real way to fix this; aparently the browser wraps the NPObject in some ..."
JIRA issue http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-107 issue updated by richard
kylehuff 13:09 busy around here today. are you trying to get a release out?
taxilian 13:09 I'll try to do that too
but mostly I'm trying to clear out some of the backlog
I've been busy lately, so I'm taking today to work on FireBreath
kylehuff 13:09 lol... overachiever...
taxilian 13:09 1.6 should have gone out a month ago
FireBreathBot 13:09 JIRA issue http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-118 issue resolved by richard "VS 2010 Express builds fine in 32 bit mode, and 64 bit mode is really, really uncommon to actuall..."
linearray 13:09 are you sure all this productivity is good? let's try to distract you with a local commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XLshEBvYdw
taxilian 13:09 LOL. I'm slightly frightened; I'm really really hoping that's a fake commercial =]
linearray 13:09 nope :)
these two guys drive around and make free commercials for small businesses
which are slightly self-ironic and eerie
taxilian 13:09 lol
aparently
hehe
kylehuff 13:09 that is the longest commercial I've ever seen
taxilian 13:09 ...
wow...
Safari 5.1 PluginThreadAsyncCall doesn't seem to wrok
work
on windows
taxilian 13:09 any of you guys using vs2010 express?
kylehuff 13:09 I am
taxilian 13:09 do you have time that you could try to repro http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-116 ?
FireBreathBot 13:09 FIREBREATH-116: Summary: Call to DllRegisterServer failed
FIREBREATH-116: Assigned To: richard
FIREBREATH-116: Priority: Major, Status: Open, http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-116
kylehuff 13:09 sure, this is on an XP machine, does that matter?
taxilian 13:09 hmm; probably does
I need to try it on win7
kylehuff 13:09 I think I have a win7 VM still, and it might even have vs2010, let me look
taxilian 13:09 okay; if not, I need to set up a VM w/ express anyway
just will take me longer
I think I better go get lunch; I'll be back in a bit
kylehuff 13:09 yeah, I've got a naked windows 7 install (32bit). I could load up vs2010 and git, might take a while though on this connection
taxilian 13:09 this Safari thing is just infuriating; this is why having a project like FireBreath is important, all these little things that change and nobody knows
well, if you have time that would be a big help; if not, I'll get to it
kylehuff 13:09 I'll work on it, if I don't get called away it won't be a problem
taxilian 13:09 cool
htanks

taxilian 14:09 huh.  been too long since I updated the firebreath-1.6 branch, it seems
bbl
VJ 14:09 Can I access the device id (mac address) in the plugin? any firebreath class for accessing the device/harware related information.
?
vj 15:09 Hi anyone there?
linearray 15:09 yes
vj 15:09 I want to obtain the device id from the plugin
I mean mac address
linearray 15:09 do it like in a regular program
vj 15:09 What interface, method firebreath provide to do so?
regular program as in? I mean something like kernel mode call?
linearray 15:09 i have no idea how to do this on windows, but unix-ish I'd just call /sbin/ifconfig
also, try google http://support.microsoft.com/kb/118623
taxilian 15:09 heh. why exactly would FireBreath provide such an interface?
it is strange to me that people don't understand that a plugin is still just a C++ app
taxilian 16:09 kylehuff: any luck?
kylehuff 16:09 just installed VS2010, now waiting for cmake to finish installing
taxilian 16:09 heh. sorry, didn't mean to hand you an all-day project :-/
I think I'm about ready to put out 1.6RC2; anyone know of any problems that should be addressed first?
kylehuff 16:09 it should have been a quick setup, but this qwest connection is slooow...
taxilian 16:09 hehe
kylehuff 16:09 okay, finally ready.. so, I should attempt to reproduce this using master, correct?
taxilian 16:09 correct
if it doesn't happen on master, I don't rightly care :-P
the latest version is the only one I have strong interest in supporting for free =]
kylehuff 16:09 hehe... gotcha
taxilian 16:09 could you verify that master still builds on linux, btw? my build servers are down
kylehuff 16:09 yeah, sure thing. are there any breaking changes from 1.5?
taxilian 16:09 I dont' believe so
kylehuff 16:09 cool. I'll just checkout master and build one of my projects
taxilian 16:09 cool
kylehuff 16:09 taxilian: not sure if it is relevant, but after doing checking out master, deleting my build dir and re-prepping, this is what I get on build: https://gist.github.com/c9bbd0e4d81413031e85
(on linux, sorry)
kylehuff 16:09 okay, after making the change in this diff https://gist.github.com/314d439956b08533c6eb it compiles on linux fine.
taxilian 16:09 do you mind just doing that commit and pushing it?
kylehuff 16:09 sure
taxilian 16:09 thanks
I really appreciate your help
FireBreathBot 16:09 Commit fff31b1 on master by Kyle L. Huff: "Fixed order of declaration for variable 'result'" http://goo.gl/to4kC
taxilian 16:09 excelent
thanks
kylehuff 16:09 np; now I can say I've contributed code to Firebreath... even it is only 1 add/deleted line.. lol
taxilian 16:09 hehe
well done
I'm proud of you
:-P
kylehuff 17:09 okay, so there was a problem with my python install (or python on windows 7), had to reinstall an older version, but now I've realized I didn't install the WDK yet...
(thankfully I don't have to download that beast though)
kylehuff 18:09 okay, FINALLY... I am able to reproduce FIREBREATH-116 taxilian
FireBreathBot 18:09 FIREBREATH-116: Summary: Call to DllRegisterServer failed
FIREBREATH-116: Assigned To: richard
FIREBREATH-116: Priority: Major, Status: Open, http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-116
taxilian 18:09 wow… seriously? =]
hmm. that implies that there is something unique to vs express that makes it not work
kylehuff 18:09 yes... took bloody forever, half because VS insists on "parsing include files...." for 9 hours chewing up my CPU
taxilian 18:09 really really weird
btw, I just made my first contact on HF
40 meters; talked to some guy in Arizona
kylehuff 18:09 oh yeah? where at?
ah, cool
taxilian 18:09 not much, but hey; it's a start
hmm. so I don't even know how to tell you to start troubleshooting that
what I would do is just add a sleep(10000) statement to the DllRegisterServer entrypoint, run regsvr32, and attach the debugger
then step through and see if I can figure out where the error is coming from
kylehuff 18:09 okay, I'll try to look at that when I get home. otherwise it'll be tomorrow
taxilian 18:09 that's fine
thanks
