FireBreathBot 01:08 JIRA issue http://jira.firebreath.org/browse/FIREBREATH-121 issue created by tippex
baga 04:08 Hi! Whats the best way to return js object from plugin without creating JSObject, for ex. there is a method that should return to js Object {X:0, Y:1, Z:2} ?
dougma 04:08 there is a way
it's called a variantmap i think

dodo 06:08 anyone know how to solve this error on linux when running prepcodeblocks: Package pango was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `pango.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
FireBreathBot 06:08 dodo: 17 Aug 17:32Z <taxilian> tell dodo navigator.plugins.refresh(false) is standard practice; see fb_installer.js in the firebreath codebase
nomuna 06:08 taxilian: What does fb_installer.js do? How dop I use it?
dodo 06:08 nomuna: as fas as i understand fb_installer.js is not fiished yet. it does have functionality to show you if the plugin is installed or not
have a look at the code in there is it not to complicated
nomuna 07:08 Wanna know how I am supposed to use it... like Do I put it in my html code in which I use the plugin or just paste it into the navigation bar of firefox
Do I do it only once for each browser etc. I have the problem that I don't see the values I put into the PluginConfig.cmake in the about:plugins page in firefox. Is it a way to solve the problem... Sorry for the amount of text... :D
I have noticed the js file before. I know that the code inside is not difficult to understand.
dodo 07:08 i think you should include in the page where you use the plugin to find out if it is installed or not and change page depending on this info
nomuna 07:08 I'll give it a try. Thanks. Any chance you have experience with the logging (log4cplus) in firebreath? The file appender is nit writing to the file I specify. when I start firefox I see a message saying that a file can't be opened but no name of the file is written. It would be nice to know where to adjust the logging levels too.

linearray 09:08 hi
Deep 09:08 I'm trying to return NPObject to my javascript
I have a struct with couple of attributes..I'm unable to convert struct to NPObject
how can I do that?
or how I need to return multiple values to java script by using NPVariant *result
could you please help
?
Deep_ 10:08 Hi
Any info on my request
taxilian 11:08 g'morning all

jshanab_wcw 11:08 Mournin
taxilian 11:08 wait, who are we mourning?
jshanab_wcw 11:08 2 days of winsock.h already included and redefinition erros from left field stopping all progress :-(
taxilian 11:08 ahh. yeah, that would be worth mourning
try building FBTestPlugin and see if that works
have you already tried deleting the build directory?
jshanab_wcw 11:08 I think my understanding of "translation unit" needed a microsoft update. I had projects at the top level that could have been just files in a parent project. So far it is compileing....
darn, i spoke to soon. still in the boost asio of firebreath fatal error winsock.h already included.
taxilian 11:08 wait, what version are you using?
There was a bug with that that I fixed awhile back
jshanab_wcw 11:08 uh, er, I forgot. I haven't updated in a few... This just popped up though
taxilian 11:08 hmm
are you using system boost?
jshanab_wcw 11:08 I am using the boost inside FireBreath
taxilian 11:08 have you tried yelling at it?
jshanab_wcw 11:08 I updated to FB 1.5 on or about 7/8/2011
taxilian 11:08 hmm. might be worth trying 1.6
jshanab_wcw 11:08 well it is a git submodule now :-)
I know it is my live555 library which has it's own socket stuff being built first and includeing windows.h before winsock2.h but I cannot seem to work around it
And of course Visual Studio is of no help. It shows the "#error Winsock.h already defined" dimmed out and the macros in the if define as not set when in the IDE. the line it prints it says is not included.
taxilian 11:08 there is a setting that will cause the name of the include files to be printed out during compilation
you can then step through the include files one by one and see what is going on =]
it's fun, really
jshanab_wcw 11:08 Yeah. I have been doing that but to be honest. even in normal operation windows.h still includes winsock.h even when winsock2.h is included first, it just has defines set. It really is a mess of defines which ignore namespaces and are so "legacy"
taxilian 11:08 =]
jshanab_wcw 11:08 obviously some new meaning of the word fun I am not yet aware of ;-)
taxilian 11:08 .lmgt masochism
FireBreathBot 11:08 Let me google that for you: http://goo.gl/iinoO
jshanab_wcw 12:08 How do i set the order of the build in my project. I need to make sure some of the libs build first
jshanab_wcw 12:08 OK, second question, how do I use system boost. just set it in projectdef and re-prep?
taxilian 12:08 no, it has to be a command line argument to the prep script
jshanab_wcw: the build order is determined by cmake based on what is set as a dependency of what
jshanab_wcw 12:08 oh. first I remove the add_bosot_library?
taxilian 12:08 ? no
but you realize that a compile error is not going to be caused by build order, right?
jshanab_wcw 12:08 oh, found the wiki...
there is a typo. I am not sure how to interpret the line ..."FireBreath already provides vs. using Boost libraries on your system"
so i cahnge it to add_boost_library(system) and then use the prep script argument, right?

taxilian 12:08
which is where exactly?
jshanab_wcw 12:08 http://www.firebreath.org/display/documentation/Using+Libraries#UsingLibraries-UsingBoostlibraries
taxilian 12:08 okay, there is no typo, you just aren't reading the whole context of the sentence.
it means you use add_boost_library regardless of whether you use the libraries firebreath provides or use the ones on your system
it could perhaps be written more clearly, though; feel free =]
jshanab_wcw 12:08 So it does mean I add that line with (system) in the parenthisis and then also use the prep command option. correct?
taxilian 12:08 what are you trying to do?
add_boost_library is used to add a specific boost library
for example, boost_system would be added to your project if you do that
so if you need that particularly library, then you would use that
jshanab_wcw 12:08 Use system boost instead of FB boost as it is the build of the FB boost that is getting hung up on my project
taxilian 12:08 it has nothing to do with whether or not you're using system boost, however
you need USE_SYSTEM_BOOST
which is on the prep scripts page
jshanab_wcw 12:08 OMG, duh boost::system
taxilian 12:08 =]
the lightbulb turned on!

brb, lunch
jshanab_wcw 12:08 Have a nice one
taxilian 13:08 Man, on the last day of a job it's incredibly difficult to focus on anything
jshanab_wcw 14:08 Last day?
taxilian 14:08 today is the last day of my facebook contract
jshanab_wcw 14:08 Ah.
kylehuff 14:08 having a contract end on the 30th instead of the 31st when there is one would really tweak my OCD nerve...
taxilian 14:08 heh. well, it's because it's exactly 6 months after the contract was renewed
kylehuff 14:08 makes sense... but would probably still drive me nuts.. =c )
taxilian 14:08 honestly, I'm just glad that I'm going to be able to focus on just one job
and FireBreath
kylehuff 14:08 yeah, I hear you...
dpe82 15:08 ping
kylehuff 16:08 pong
dpe82 16:08 I have a beginner question about state and multiple browser windows with a FB plugin
if I'm understanding correctly, multiple browser windows may share a single plugin instantiation, right?
so if you maintain state for each window and your JS in that window wants to interact with that state, your JSAPI methods need to reference some sort of handle so you know which window the JSAPI call is coming from?
taxilian 16:08 no
and yes
but mostly no
they share the same module instance; the same process, the same memory space
but inside FireBreath the mapping is exactly one object tag to exactly one instance of a PluginCore object
dpe82: in NPAPI itself there is a NPP that tells you which instance you are in, but FireBreath abstracts that so that you don't need to worry about it
dpe82 16:08 so you end up with one PluginCore child per window (but which may or may not be in the same process as other PluginCores?)
taxilian 16:08 no
you end up with one PluginCore instance per *object tag*
which is *always* in the same process as other PluginCore instances
Sajty 16:08 kalev: hi
dpe82 16:08 oh ok
Sajty 16:08 kalev: do you know any other way to support GTK+ 2.12? Basically before release I build it on an old ubuntu 8.04.4 to ensure compatibility.
dpe82 16:08 taxilian: is the same true then for an ActiveX plugin?
taxilian 16:08 YES
sorry< yes
bleh: shift key stuck down :_P
dpe82 16:08 awesome
haha just figured you excited and proud :)
taxilian 16:08 hehe. well, perhaps a bit =]
dpe82 16:08 this is an incredibly helpful project, btw
taxilian 16:08 I'm glad you like it; please contribute back in whatever way you are able
jshanab_wcw 16:08 taxilian. i have a question about using a framework like FB. I think i am missing something really basic How do I handle using it with a library that uses winsock2? The question is because inside the scripting core( utf8_tools.cpp) there is an include windows.h without an include windsock2.h or #define LEAN_AND_MEAN before it. Am I missunderstanding something basic or if I ever include...
...winsock2 in a plugin it is gonna fail to build?
taxilian 16:08 why should it matter what utf8_tools.cpp includes?
are you changing that file?
remember that with a compilation error, it's a single cpp file you're worried about
so unless you change a header file that cpp file includes it shouldn't make any difference
dpe82 16:08 taxilian: once we become a bit more familiar with it we'll contribute as we can
taxilian 16:08 dpe82: awesome. remember that there are many ways to contribute, not just code or money; documentation updates, example code for people to follow, blog posts about the project, helping people on IRC… all good examples of ways to help
jshanab_wcw 16:08 NO I am not but because it includes windows.h, winsock.h got included. In a completely seperate project in the same solution I include winsock2.h. Since this is after windows.h, it breaks
taxilian 16:08 that has nothing to do with utf8_tools.cpp
nothing whatsoever
jshanab_wcw 16:08 It feels like my compiler is broken. very strange
dpe82 16:08 taxilian: are you one of the project founders?
taxilian 16:08 jshanab_wcw: do you have skype? one or both of us is completely missing something, because what you're telling me doesn't make sense
dpe82: I am
jshanab_wcw 16:08 No skype. :-(
taxilian 16:08 I guess you could call me if you'd like; you're in the US, right?
jshanab_wcw 16:08 yeah sure. and I can give you access to the desktop
dpe82 16:08 jshanab_wcw: are you getting declaration conflicts because of header ordering?
