chuck_ 17:09 Looking for ways to contribute/test with FB 2.0
Looking for ways to contribute/test with FB 2.0
taxilian 17:09 hmm
well, the best way would be to build it and figure out how to use it
and then document it
build EchoTestPlugin
and make a reasonable test page for it
that would be *awesome*
that would be *awesome*
chuck_ 17:09 Hi
Thanks
Should the build with VS 2010 and IE 11 beworking?
taxilian 17:09 nope
nope
the refactor build requires 2013
the refactor build requires 2013
it *might* be possible to make it work with 2010 somehow, but I am not sure
the reason is we rewrote a lot to use c++11 features
mainly because we needed lambdas
chuck_ 17:09 Ah, ok
Ah, ok
that helps
I found it supports WIX so I need to clean up anyway
thanks
thanks
taxilian 17:09 if I don't respond quickly but I'm not _away ping me by nick; sometimes I don't see that this window has messages

chuck_ 17:09 ping your name?
taxilian 17:09 name or nick, either way
those projects have an issue with the wix stuff; I think it's just a copy/paste problem and likely not too hard to fix, but hasn't been fixed yet
chuck_ 17:09 i see query, whois, slap
I don't see ping?
I don't see ping?
taxilian 17:09 sorry
when I say ping I mean just type it
when I say ping I mean just type it
e.g. taxilian: see ^^
chuck_: when you put the nick in the channel most clients will do some sort of alert
chuck_ 17:09 taxilian: see ^^
taxilian 17:09 right; I get a message in the top right corner of the screen when you do that
right; I get a message in the top right corner of the screen when you do that
the see ^^ part is optional of course =]
chuck_ 17:09 oh
it's just taxilian:
taxilian 17:09 just the nick
nothing else matters
just the nick
nothing else matters
chuck_ 17:09 chuck_
chuck_
trying it on myself
thanks for the help
thanks for the help
taxilian 17:09 and it doesn't have to be at the beginning, chuck_ -- if your client is set up right and you're not in the window it should notify you that someone is talking to you

chuck_ 17:09 looking
you've been very helpful
taxilian 17:09 I am generally more inclined to be helpful to people who are trying to be helpful to me or my project =]
chuck_ 17:09 you've been very helpful
taxilian 17:09 I only really get cranky when people expect me to fix their problems and aren't willing to do any legwork
chuck_ 17:09 Do I ever GET THAT!
I have several points of confusion - thought lights are coming on
taxilian 17:09 feel free to ask
I'm actually working in my firebreath project today, which is unusual (since it generally just works) so I'm actually in a good mindset to help today
chuck_ 17:09 I've downloaded, followed Stoverflow and the vid tut
got things built, but with VS 2010

I download the 1.7zip
looks like git is the preferred mechansim ?
taxilian 17:09 yeah
and all development currently is on the refactor branch, which is FB2.0

and supports Chrome / native messaging
chuck_ 17:09 Let me get with git, gen with 2013 and look again
thanks

taxilian 17:09 no problem
another good trick; if you have a question and nobody answers, let us know you'll check the logs and we can answer even if you leave. logs.firebreath.org is a searchable archive of this channel

chuck_ 17:09 I've a project that i've built that needs to learn about browsers
and EVERYTHING says Firebreath is the way to go
I'm surprised about the "community" attitude, really
Just checked the "logs", fabulous
taxilian 17:09 well, I kinda made a mistake when I wrote FireBreath
I did far too good of a job
I did far too good of a job
very few *had* to learn how it worked
so everyone just used it
which basically resulted in me getting majorly burned out
early on there was a core of people who helped and it was great... recently that hasn't been the case

chuck_ 17:09 why did you decide to make it open vs $$
taxilian 17:09 there are a few around who keep helping as they can
mainly because there was a need for it
I thought about forming a company to support it, but it wasn't really what I wanted to do
chuck_ 17:09 I'm asking because of a product I've built and sunk time and money into
taxilian 17:09 I thought about forming a company to support it, but it wasn't really what I wanted to do
chuck_ 17:09 It's working - but there's a next gen of it that I see now that has me thinking
what git tool do you recommend?
