rmosolgo 10:08 hello out there!
I'm working on a web app that prints labels and I was checking out FireBreath for a good option to support printers
but I've been reading here: http://www.firebreath.org/display/documentation/Browser+Plugins+in+a+post-NPAPI+world

sounds like a real mess -- browsers remove support for a unified API and instead provide their own disparate APIs ?? Is that the gist of it?

taxilian 10:08 that's kinda what it breaks down to
however, so far only Chrome has actually announced plans to remove support for NPAPI

if I were in your place I'd probably build a firebreath plugin and then start working on a version that is a Native Messaging host for Chrome once they finally drop support

rmosolgo 10:08 ah, fair enough
yeah i'm sure we'll have a big slice of recent-IE users
taxilian 11:08 well, and currently firebreath still works on chrome
so if you start there you get everyone, and then you hit native messaging as soon as you can so you'll be ready when the change happens (whenever that is)
